I keep my ciggies and vb in me lunch bag

jenniferandjustlyso

VB...beer? Or does it mean something else?

andnom

Yeah it’s an aussie beer real bogan drink

jenniferandjustlyso

Since I had to look it up, I'm going to share my new word with the class: *Bogan is the most significant word to be created in Australian English in the past 40 years. It is defined as "an uncultured and unsophisticated person; a boorish and uncouth person" in the 2016 edition of the Australian National Dictionary.*

andnom

Yeah pretty much logan is full of em

jenniferandjustlyso

Ha! Isn't that the stereotypical Australian way? It doesn't pay to be too refined when nature is as homicidal as it can be there.

andnom

It’s not as bad as the rep no one has died from a venemous spider snake or whatever in like 30-40 years most areas have anti-venom ready to go

moneybags2015

Advil Gum Bandaids Allergy pills Water bottle Sun screen Granola bars. I’m like a Girl Scout. I’m always prepared.

baarelyalive

Lip balm?

moneybags2015

That too. But it’s not as essential to me to have when I’m out as much as let’s say a bottle of water.

jenniferandjustlyso

I don't carry sun screen and that's not a bad idea, because I have been in situations where it would have been handy. I have a pen, extra mask and gloves, wet wipes, a thumb drive, and extra hair ties, and a extra phone charger.

jenniferandjustlyso

Out of curiosity, do you deal with anxiety? I do and I always wondered if there was a correlation between that and a well stocked purse.

moneybags2015

Yes!!!!! I remember even taking exams and you could only walk in when a pencil and a calculator and I’d hate it. Having all my stuff with me makes me feel at ease.

Aiure

A couple pounds at most. I have a ton of stuff in there for how small it is though. Essentials like a pocket knife, lighter, power bank and charge cable, whistle/compass, tampon. Medical related stuff - CBD pills, ibuprofen, vertigo meds, IcyHot roller, compression gloves. Soft cases for my sunglasses and computer glasses, as well as cleaning cloth and eyedrops. Pair of latex gloves, cloth mask, tiny bottle of hand sanitizer. Chapstick, hand cream, comb. And a small bag of crystals/rocks, both store-bought and found.

jenniferandjustlyso

You are super prepared! That's impressive. I read a FB on a local group where I live, and this lady said she's a prepper and has 3 days survival gear in her purse, and I was so baffled. I should ask her what that entails so I'll stop wondering about it!

Liraeyn

Don't carry a purse anymore, but there were a few things that fit the bill: A deck of cards in my ballet bag, for long hours backstage Toothbrush and toothpaste in my viola case, same reason A spare mask, these days Water in my car in case I pick up a(nother) hitchhiker on a hot day

jenniferandjustlyso

Well this post makes your life sound fascinating. You are an avid viola player, and dancer? Who is good at cards, has good breath, and is compassionate and not scared of hitchhikers. You are a plot premise to a really interesting novel!

Liraeyn

Aw thanks!

baarelyalive

Knife, toothpicks, mints, lip balm, brush

jenniferandjustlyso

I have pepper spray, but a knife would be good for practical purposes.

baarelyalive

What’s in yours?

jenniferandjustlyso

Chapstick, hair ties, thumb drive, pen, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, small case with various pills, sunglasses, regular glasses, small wallet, a small coin purse with a ton of store membership cards, phone cord/charger, mints, some hard candy, and granola bars, plastic gloves, extra mask, and lotion, and mini tape measurer.

PhaedrusZenn

Not a purse, but I'm grown man who carries a backpack around most places. I've got a multi tool, trauma shears, flashlight, ratchet strap, three different chargers, pens, markers, index cards, shove knife, chop sticks, zip ties, a small roll of gorilla tape, a card entry tool (super long flexible plastic piece for carding doors), traveller's pick, water bottle, a couple of books I'm in the middle of reading, electrolyte mix, energy drink mix, top ramen (1 to 2 bricks), and other stuff that comes and goes. Edit: feel like it's relavent that I mention that said backpack is not military surplus, camo, OD, or coyote brown. It does not have MOLLE straps all over it. I am not always packing heat. I am not a prepper. I just like to have stuff with me when I might want or need it.

jenniferandjustlyso

Did you experience trauma, or like homelessness as a kid? That is not an insult, I just knew of a guy who would always carry a lot of survival stuff, and that was the reason. I think it's good to be prepared though. And I think as a man, you are more prepared then most who only take what fits in their pockets.

PhaedrusZenn

Not really homelessness, but my parents were divorced, and I'd have to move between homes nearly weekly. Didn't have a lot, especially when I was younger. It doesn't help that I'm now a firefighter, as well as a scout master, and simply have grown into the habit of carrying a lot of "just in case" stuff...

jenniferandjustlyso

That makes so much sense in context.

vrosej10

About a kilo. I have to carry a bunch of meds, so heavier than I'd like. 2 Card wallets Phone Keys (very heavy key chains to keep it safe in the bottom of the bag) Reading glasses Hanky and tissues Antique Mirror pendant Epi pen 2 inhalers Nitro for my heart Glucose tablets (diabetic that's hypo prone) Hydrolyte tablets (in case I have to drink water which is physically difficult) Ginger lollies Anti nausea drugs Antihistamines My favourite rose quartz venus of willendorf

jenniferandjustlyso

Do you carry the venus, for good luck/protection, or fertility/aphrodisiac? That's a lot of meds. And that sounds like no fun. I have a friend with gastroparesis as well, with heart issues, and epipen carrying allergies, that seemed like such an odd coincidence. But I know a bit of her struggles and I'm sorry you go through that as well.

vrosej10

Your friend is essentially me too. I meet a lot of folks with gastroparesis who mysteriously have all this bullshit. I think it's a syndrome personally. Give her a fist bump from a fellow traveller from me. Luck, protection and cause I like her fat little bod. Before gastroparesis got me, she was kind of my twin.

jenniferandjustlyso

It could definitely be a syndrome. Like I can imagine that they could be interconnected like that. She's freakishly allergic to bellpeppers, she had a coworker eat a dish with cooked bellpeppers in the back lunchroom, she was in the front of the store and she ended up in the ER. Even with the epipen. I think it's so scary to be that vulnerable over even the smell of something from a separate room.
