It's better than when you have the same name as their dog.

My SO has the male version of my name - we've been together over 20 years and it still amuses me when a family member has to awkwardly clarify which of us they're speaking to. We also work at the same office, so he gets a lot of emails meant for me and I get a lot of calls meant for him.

My wife is Italian and her name is Joanne. It seems everyone in the family was named after an Aunty Josephine or Uncle Joe. So everyone calls her Jenny at family gatherings. I call her Joanne and they look at me like I’m a fool. Even after 30 years of marriage.

Had a thing with a girl who shares a name with my sister. Different spelling, same sound. I talk about my sister with her or with friends about her or my sister and the confusion ensues. Said her name during passions once, didn’t occur to me I had a sister at the time but who knows if that will stay as is. Overall not bad, helps if you’re more into them than you’re even in your sisters life I guess. I imagine it would get more problematic or whatever should a relationship like that progress into marriage or whatever
