Arthas did nothing wrong.

aymsolt

He really didn't.

theWalrusSC2

Uther was a bitch and wasn't willing to do what needed to be done. Arthas knew what was up.

Maalunar

Had the others (Uther, Jaina) supported him, he would never have fallen. They knew what the plague did, they knew that they had no time to waste and that the life of the citizens was all but forfeit. But they could only talk, not spill the blood.

BestEve

At least that gave us this beautiful [parody](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gCo8fajC7o)

mykeedee

Uther and Jaina made the most cowardly decision possible in that situation. "Oh Arthas you culling the people of Stratholme before they turn into dangerous undead is unconscionable, **which is why we're going to leave and let you do it**". They should have either helped him or killed him on the spot, instead they shat on Arthas for doing what they literally acquiesced to by leaving.

Another Stephen king novel

HotPhilly

On the next episode of Climate Change! The heat dome steps into the polar vortexes turf. They clash and whip up a heat wave vortex, melting layer after layer of prehistoric ice, awakening an ancient airborne AIDS!

892ExpiredResolve

There was an outbreak of Anthrax in Siberia a few years ago that was believed to be from a very old reindeer carcass defrosting that was infected with it.

HotPhilly

Yeah! I heard of that and other reports weird things floating on top of melted permafrost for years now. Some still able to be revived, I believe.

unfnknblvbl

Some say he's a polar vortex, and that if he were near a heat dome, he'd wear a mask so as not to contract ancient airborne AIDS. All we know is, he's The Stig's Arctic cousin!

jchris2014

This is literally my worst nightmare about the ice caps melting.

No_Significance4311

The methane being released en masse is actually pretty damned bad.

Fomalhot

People dont know that this is the real threat and that its out.

klem_kadiddlehopper

Not only that but the ice is melting at an alarming rate which means much of the land will eventually be under water. If you watch any shows on archeology and the history of ancient cities you know that many cities have been discovered under water.

MrFantasticallyNerdy

This is almost exactly the premise of *The Tomorrow War*. Spoiler: >!Terrifying, almost invincible, human-consuming aliens crashed on Earth and were buried under snow and ice in Russia. They were released when the snow/ice melted from climate change.!<

ErikTheAngry

Enjoyed that movie, but MAN did it ever have some terrible plot holes.

meno123

SPOILER Holy fuck, most of the plot holes were fine, but it just kept getting worse toward the end. The beginning of the end was when Chris Pratt decided to jump after his daughter in the future when everybody fuckin knows that she's already dead and all you're doing is dooming the human race. After that, volcano kid. I'll let it go because he's literally painted as turbonerd the whole movie, and they realistically could have found an expert in any form. But the fucking government thing. "We can't afford to send anyone to Russia for this, but we can afford to send thousands into the future even though we know 95% of them will die while doing so. Oh, and Russia will be mad." Meanwhile good ol' pops just so happens to have a Chekov's gun'd C130 in his backyard that won't have any problem getting into russian airspace and landing/taking off in the middle of nowhere. Oh, and the alien ship isn't 400 or whatever meters below the surface. It's right at the surface right now, so easy to access! The monsters aren't even frozen. What are they doing? People are fucking dying and none of you have a satellite phone. Fucking none of you brought a satellite phone to say "hey we found the ship, bomb the everloving fuck out of XX.XXXXXN XX.XXXXXE." Finally, "Oh, friends of mine *died* after you said no to giving us any help whatsoever and now I'm just going to let you take all the credit." Extremely cool premise, but holy fuck did they fuck it up worse and worse as time went on.

Kitty_McBitty

They didn't even need any of the neurotoxin in the end if they'd just bomb the hell out of the place to begin with

Ask_if_im_an_alien

True... but they didn't realize that until the end of the movie. Sadly that is 2/3rds of the film's plot.

DoubleJacked

Why the fuck inject the aliens separately with a poison when your backup solution is to blow the ship up anyway. Just fucking blow the ship up.

me_team

I got you! BUT what bothered me literally the *most* is the creatures ammo could apparently rip through BP vests, but was stopped by drywall?? Seriously: spikes sticking out of the walls = stopped projectile. SMH *shame!*. ALSO just ONE of these things levelled a platoon. Infinite ammo apparently. But the just quit shooting at the heroes, I guess? or the heroes really good at dodging? (like, so fast the camera couldn’t see it!)

FLWeedman

I don't want to lose you!!! *Sees daughter 5 minutes later.*

Wardogs96

The movie was good, wasn't terrible. Its worth at least 1 watch but like you mentioned right after that scene he jumps after her it felt like it took a turn in writing... What did it for me was him and his wife figured out the situation regarding aliens in the present which was like, how did no one in the future even remotely consider that possibility but these 2 did in a short conversation. THE OTHER THING THAT BUGGED ME WAS THE SHIP. They find the ship and have the neurotoxin the thing they spent 3/4 of or more than a half of the movie to create and use it to kill a few of them but end up blowing the entire ship with explosives? Why even make the neurotoxin such a big deal, I get plans don't always go the way it's expected but it kinda made the earlier parts of the movie seem so meaningless. Also the lack of explanation for the time gate thing was kinda a let down or how their teleportation was interfered but no explanation for that was mentioned was also weird.

Kortanak

Fuck I didn't even realize that, but you're absolutely right. "Oh no, your teleportation through time messed up and we actually threw everyone 500ft up in the air. No sorry, we don't know why it happened." Like now I'm mad that there wasn't an explanation for that.

transmogrify

Everyone's out there calling Yvonne Strahovski a hero who saved the world. She did a good job, but someone invented mass time travel and that person gets no recognition. Everything that everyone does is only possible because of the time bridge.

CNoTe820

I don't understand why Amazon and Netflix spend so much God damn money on shitty movies with terrible plot lines. Marvel and DC universes aside most great movies these days are not big budget stuff. Look at the movie Pig. It couldn't have cost that much to make, had very little as far as FX go, and it was an excellent movie. Why aren't there more Good Will Hunting and Shawshank Redemption quality movies coming out anymore? I mean seriously someone tell me a movie that's come out in the last 5 years I'll still be rewatching in 25 years. Even if we expand it to thriller movies, what movie is as good as Seven that we'll still be watching and talking about in 2050?

Transformah

I enjoyed the never-ending bullet hose of a gun he seemed to have the entire movie

majestik1024

It had a plot between all the holes? But yeah, it was fun to watch.

NephtisSeibzehn

You need some serious commitment to suspension of disbelief to watch that movie. Even within the sci-fi genre.

Fuzzier_Than_Normal

And just overall shitty writing.

DatDominican

How do we keep unlocking harder difficulties? Is someone trying to do an extinction speedrun?

ProfessionalDish

NearCanuck

ProfessionalDish

You're just away for a few months and your garden gets infested with weird creatures digging everything up and leaving garbage everywhere.

awkwardstate

Pshh... We're not even past 'hurt me plenty'. People just needed to wear masks and we could barely get through that.

papereel

Imagine all those same people who refuse to wear a mask or get a shot being told they have to ration food, water, or power.

AmethysstFire

Am I the only one picturing that scene from Monsters, Inc.? "Put that thing back where it came from...!"

Or so help me

I don't think we'll have a choice. That ice (all ice) is melting so it's only a matter of time before some weird new viruses are released. But don't worry, you'll probably die from some other horrible thing before that happens.

PinkyAnd

Just wait till you find out what happens when climate change melts those glaciers that have been frozen since before humanity existed.

Max_Downforce

Glaciers flow, albeit very slowly, so the ice isn't as old as you think it is.

SaturnusDawn

Can't wait for the Virus new releases alongside the Classics from days gone by. I miss Black Death and can't wait to meet the Human Inside Out Virus

buoninachos

Black death is still around, but not something to be worried about

HubertTempleton

That's caused by bacteria, though, not a virus.

DJ-SoulCalibur2

Better invest in good weather stripping-- the "Fog that Turns People Inside Out" will be here soon enough

tobygeneral

It's worse than that flesh eating virus you've read about.

DarkEvilHedgehog

It's difficult enough for viruses to jump from a currently living animal to humans. Also, these viruses may even still be around, but have just been missed because they only infect some tiny insect or microbe.

jayzyges

With temperatures rising from global warming, these could be released sooner than we would like. Probably a good idea to study them if possible and come up with a cure if needed.

yeskushnercan

Goodie two-shoes. We should lick them now and see if dey tasty.

Em_Adespoton

They’re unlikely to target human biology. That doesn’t mean they won’t have a devastating effect on the modern environment though.

Sirflow

What makes them unlikely to affect humans?

draftstone

Currently only a very very tiny proportion of all virus on the planet are able to affect humans. So it is safe to assume it was the same for super old viruses. Also even if they were virus that affected humans back then (article said at least 14 thousand years ago) human changed in that time so might be unable to target us.

dirtyflower

You help people who need sleep go to sleep tonight. I am people. Thank you lol

ranger-steven

Just don’t think about the fact that evolutionarily speaking we are essentially identical to humans from 14000 years ago.

ToesInHiding

Do. Not. Jinx. Us.

casino_alcohol

Kfc now with 8 spices and herbs

Bagelstein

Its extremely unlikely that viruses preserved for millions of years in ice are able to use modern mammals as a host. In fact the overwhelming majority of known viruses dont have any affect on humans. This isn't something likely to have any impact on modern medicine. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/article/factors-allow-viruses-infect-humans-coronavirus

zuzg

The only reason why they found them was a melting glacier. It's probably already too late but non of them affect humans or animals. Only plant or soil. So after the pandemic we will get a worldwide food shortage.

farbroski

Oh that’s already coming with climate change

jayzyges

Nothing to worry about there then 😏

Just wait for when the ArkStorm hits California followed by the Big One: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARkStorm https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Andreas_Fault#The_next_.22Big_One.22 Let's be real, they'll probably happen in the same year because that's the stupidest most unrealistic thing that could happen, which is pretty much what we've been getting ever since they fired up the LHC.

WikiSummarizerBot

**[ARkStorm](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARkStorm)** >An ARkStorm (for atmospheric river 1,000 storm) is a hypothetical but scientifically realistic "megastorm" scenario developed and published by the Multi Hazards Demonstration Project (MHDP) of the United States Geological Survey, based on historical occurrences. It describes an extreme storm that could devastate much of California, causing up to $725 billion in losses (mostly due to flooding), and affect a quarter of California's homes. The event would be similar to exceptionally intense California storms that occurred between December 1861 and January 1862, which dumped nearly 10 feet of rain in parts of California, over a period of 43 days. **[San_Andreas_Fault](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Andreas_Fault#The_next_.22Big_One.22)** >The San Andreas Fault is a continental transform fault that extends roughly 1,200 kilometers (750 mi) through California. It forms the tectonic boundary between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate, and its motion is right-lateral strike-slip (horizontal). The fault divides into three segments, each with different characteristics and a different degree of earthquake risk. The slip rate along the fault ranges from 20 to 35 mm (0. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/worldnews/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

thebruh599

Some people here are thinking this is an actual threat. From what I understand, these viruses are not adapted to infect humans and we shouldn’t be worried. I was wondering if there was another reason that people are making a big deal about this? Edit: After some more research, I have come to the conclusion that redditors are dumbasses. These viruses are not a threat and that there are huge numbers of harmless viruses. This strange fearmongering isn’t what I would have expected from this many people in the comments section.

GreenGreasyGreasels

You take a pinch of soil from your garden and you will probably find five new viruses never catalogued before. Finding unknown viruses isn't an earth shattering discovery.

Super_Saiyan_Weegee

Yeah, most people aren't aware about the absurd amount of viral species there are, or how specialized they have to evolve to infect any specific animal. The risk posed by these is absolutely laughable compared to any other product of climate change.

Bleachi

> I have come to the conclusion that redditors are dumbasses. Look at the top comments. They're all two sentences or less. Many people just don't like to read anything longer than that. Which is why they only read headlines and short jokes about those headlines. There's a fundamental lack of curiosity here. Because my first response upon seeing that headline was a desire to know more.

Kitsunes_Rest

Seriously, I had to hide ~22 comment chains before I got to this one. And every time a topic like this comes up, the same thing happens over and over. It's like whenever the topic of AI is even hinted at in a headline, everyone's gotta make their little quip about Skynet or some shit. I wouldn't mind these things so much, but it's *every* thread with this stuff. The same jokes and dozens of parent comments filled with it rammed to the very top. Every. Time.

badniff

Interesting but hardly cause for concern is the proper takeaway. Most comments are basically just copy-pasted memes and clichés anyway. Why do I even spend time on reddit anymore?

LazarusChild

Yeah all the top comments are just painfully unfunny jokes, can’t believe I had to scroll this far to find someone saying they’re harmless. Virulence in viruses comes from the fact that they have co-evolved with humans and other animal species over thousands of years. A virus locked in permafrost wouldn’t do shit to us because all of its ‘virulent’ factors will not be able to interact with human receptors.

peter-doubt

But they're*all* getting thawed out now! Still think climate change is benign?
